West Kelowna Minor Baseball is proud to see WKMBA Alumnus Clark Swift announce his commitment to the Okanagan College Coyotes for the 2021-22 Season. Clark played in the WKMBA program for over 10 years and joins an esteemed group of former players to go on to play at the Collegiate Level.
The Okanagan College Coyotes baseball program is excited to announce the signing of Clark Swift for the 2021-2022 season. Swift who is currently a member of the Okanagan Athletic U18 Premier team will attend Okanagan College’s business program at the Kelowna campus.
“We are extremely pleased to have Clark join and comm
it to our program,” says Head Coach Geoff White, “He has had a tremendous fall, made significant progress, and has a lot of potential.”
Swift, the 6’2, 180 brings a tremendous amount of athleticism. He has primarily played in centerfield this past fall, while also logging time on the mound and infield.
“Clark brings a ton of versatility; we like how athletic he is and that he has experience in a variety of positions.” Adds White.
The Mount Boucherie High School is a product of the Okanagan Athletic Premier program, he has progressed through the ranks from the Junior Premier team to now a leader for the Senior program.
“Swift has been around the stadium for a while, there is history with the family along with two younger brothers that are and have gone through our Junior Coyotes program. All have shown tremendous passion for the game and outstanding work ethic. We are excited that Clark can be the first of three brothers to possibly go through our Okanagan College Coyotes program,” finishes White.
The Coyotes wrapped up their fall season in late October that saw then mainly intersquad and compete with the Okanagan Athletics U18 due to COVID restrictions currently in place. To the Parents of West Kelowna Minor Baseball,
We are happy to announce that we have received approval to resume Baseball in 2020.
ViaSport, Baseball BC and BC Minor Baseball have approved for Minor Baseball to resume under strict Return-to-Play (RTP) guidelines for the Summer 2020 Season. We have attached these guidelines for you to review with your child before you register them for the 2020 Summer Baseball Season. All Parent and Player Waivers must be signed before they can participate in any baseball activity. This is mandatory “no exceptions”.
As of right now, we will not be playing games as per the current RTP Guidelines. We will be focusing on Skill Development with an emphasis on the 5 Tools of Baseball; Hitting for Power, Hitting for Contact, Throwing, Catching and Base Running.
The current plan is for 7U & 9U to have 2 Baseball camps per month, with 11U, 13U & 15U practicing twice a week until the end of August.
If allowances to play games are granted during the season from our governing bodies, we will meet as a board to explore our options of adapting back to a “normal season”. We will keep you updated as new information comes.
After registration, your division director will be in touch with you regarding more guidelines specific to your division, as well as the first group time/day for evaluations to place players in groups of similar skilled players.
With these times being as unprecedented as they are, we appreciate your patience as we move through the necessary steps to get our players back on the field. We ask for your help in respects to abiding and promoting the guidelines set forth. Should any players/parents refuse to follow the guidelines, they will be asked to leave the field. If players/parents are asked to leave the field on a second occasion they will not be allowed back and a refund will “NOT” be issued.
With the new guidelines set forth, the board has decided not to have “team bats” to eliminate any equipment sharing between players. Should you need a Baseball Bat, we will be selling bats from our collection for a reduced price at the main field Saturday July 4th between 10:00am-12:00pm, you may also purchase your own from any local sports store. If you cannot make it to this sale, our division directors will also be selling them to players at the first sessions or upon later request if supplies are still available.
Thank you for your understanding and co-operation through these unique times. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any of our board members.
