Become a Coach
The WKMBA depends on parents and volunteers to provide coaching for all levels and teams. We are very supportive of new coaches and offer training and clinics to our coaches at no cost wherever we can. If you are interested in coaching or assistant coaching please let your division director or your child's existing coach know... we depend on you and would love to have you join our coaching staff!
WKMBA encourages anybody that coaches for our association to at least obtain their "Initiation Coach" certification. This will give you all the basic tools for coaching at the lower levels.
Complete the WKMBA Coaches Application Form that can be found here:
Contact us, and ask to submit your application to the Division Director for the age category you wish to coach:
And make sure to complete your criminal record check (CRC) online.
Use code AY269SB6RF when prompted, and share your results with your league director. To complete your CRC, click through on this button:
*** Please note that WKMBA will reimburse all costs associated with getting properly certified under the NCCP. Just keep your receipts and contact your Division Director for the procedure to get reimbursed.***
Official Baseball Coaching Levels are governed by Baseball BC under the National Coach Certification Program, better known as NCCP. The NCCP offers 3 levels of certification.
STEP 1 - Register with NCCP and complete the online module:
All coach training by Baseball Canada is now started through an online module at nccp.baseball.ca. Click on Register to get started. It is an interactive self-directed training tool that you complete at your own pace and convenience. It costs $37.45 (including taxes) and gives you access to on-line video drills, materials, practice plans, and skill development tools in an easy-to-follow format. You continue to have access to the site after completing the online portion of the entry course. The focus of this module is on the "What to Coach?" side of coaching.
STEP 2 - Attend a Coach Clinic in our area:
Once you have completed your online component you must obtain your INITIATION certification. Once you have completed this module, you will have your INITIATION, "Trained" status. You can then attend additional clinics.
STEP 3 - Regional Certification:
Coaches who already have their INITIATION certification can attend additional clinics required for REGIONAL certification. You do not have to attend an Initiation Session if you have obtained INITIATION status in a previous year. You will also need to complete the MED (Making Ethical Decisions) module online.
Good luck and we look forward to seeing you on the field soon!
